John Corbett reacts to ‘And Just Like That’ cancellation — and reveals…
John Corbett was blindsided by “And Just Like That” being canceled.
“I was as shocked as anybody that the show ended because when I finished my work on it, there was two or three episodes left to go that I didn’t get the scripts for them,” Corbett, who performed Carrie’s beau Aidan Shaw in “Sex and the City” and its sequel collection, told The Post while selling his new movie, “Soul on Fire.”
“So I didn’t know what the story was going to be,” the actor, 64, added. “So I watched them with joy. I’m just such a fan of everybody on that show. I loved watching it.”

Corbett famous that he’s “sad” the collection isn’t persevering with, particularly because he feels shut to all his former co-stars.
“I just love them all, My ‘Sex and the City’/’And Just Like That’ family so much,” he said. “But I was as shocked as anybody when, no one calls me up and says, ‘Hey, we’re going to not pick it up.’ I found out just like everybody else. And I was bummed out that it’s not going to continue.”

Corbett joined the “ALT” forged in Season 2 when Aidan and Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) bought again together. He made his last look on the present three episodes before the collection finale when Carrie lastly breaks up with Aidan and chooses the single life.
“Do I think Aidan and Carrie should have ended up together? I got a feeling that they… just like the old 25 years ago Aidan and Carrie’s story, I think that there’s probably a better fit for Carrie in the New York lifestyle than that,” Corbett told The Post. “They gave it the old college try.”
“So I think that was the right way to go with it,” Corbett added.

“And Just Like That,” which premiered on HBO Max in 2021, was controversial from the start, because it started by killing off Carrie’s longtime love, Big (Chris Noth), tried to be woke with cringey storylines and launched new characters such as Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez), who was unpopular among followers.
Two weeks before the Season 3 finale, HBO and showrunner Michael Patrick King announced the collection was calling it quits.

While his time on “AJLT” is completed, Corbett is staying busy starring in “Soul on Fire,” a new biopic about St. Louis native John O’Leary (Joel Courtney) who survived fireplace burns which coated his whole physique. Corbett performs John’s father, Dennis O’Leary.
Corbett told The Post if he gave Courtney, 29, any recommendation on the set of the movie.
“This is my 40th year in show business. I got my SAG card in 1985,” he said. “I genuinely don’t have any advice because I find then it’s a different relationship if I’m trying to [give advice]. So I’m figuring it out too.”

“Every project I ever do, there’s a lot to be learned,” the “Raising Helen” actor continued.
“I’m generally not working back to back. I might have a year off, and when I get on set, I realize how much I’ve forgotten in a year and how complicated this ‘easy job’ of just memorizing some things and standing in front of a camera can be. There’s so much more to it than that.”
“Soul on Fire” is in theaters now.
