With three managers still carrying the interim tag, a few more skippers on considerably iffy floor, three current GM adjustments, one new team proprietor and one unemployed iconic manager able to get again to work, count on another wild hiring scramble this winter.
That’s why the Mets want a plan.
Here’s my Mets plan: First, make a big play for the coveted, achieved, unusually obtainable Alex Cora, which might be a home run. But if they’ll’t get Cora, carry again interim manager Andy Green, who’s doing a creditable job (26-26 into Thursday evening).
Cora is a managing savant with a World Series ring, so by all means go for it. But realistically, he’s most likely a lengthy shot. (More on that below.)
