    The tribute got here as Iger, 75, prepares for his next act after leaving the top job at Disney earlier this yr and taking a new function following his acquisition of the Los Angeles Lakers with Josh Kushner.

    Downey Jr. steered Iger, despite closing his storied run at Disney, was nowhere close to completed.

    “And as he closes this chapter and begins the next, somehow, somehow, seems like he’s still just only getting started,” he said. “That is, Bob, why you truly are the legend in every sense of the word.”

    Iger was inducted into the company’s corridor of fame alongside the 2026 class, which incorporates Anne Hathaway and Lin-Manuel Miranda, per the outlet.

    His successor, Josh D’Amaro, launched him at the ceremony, the place Harrison Ford, Ellen Pompeo, Diane Sawyer and others also took the stage to replicate on Iger’s impression on the leisure large.

    “What I’ve always admired the most about Bob is not necessarily what he’s accomplished; it is who he is,” D’Amaro said, as quoted by Variety.

    Iger returned the reward while accepting the honor, telling D’Amaro, who succeeded him as CEO in March: “You’re wearing that title really well. I am so proud to call you my successor.”

    The former Disney chief also used his speech to shift consideration to the actors, filmmakers, musicians and other creatives behind the company’s success.

    “It’s not lost on me; I’m the executive in the room,” Iger said. “What executives typically do is they sign checks and they turn the lights on in the morning. I usually make coffee. But more than anything else, we’re around to support creators, the true talent that drives this company forward.”

    Iger’s relationship with Disney stretches again more than half a century, starting when he joined ABC as a studio supervisor in 1974.

    He rose by means of the ranks before Disney bought ABC and its father or mother company, Capital Cities, in 1996, and in the end grew to become Disney CEO in 2005.

    His first stint as CEO reworked the company by means of a string of blockbuster takeovers—including Pixar in 2006, Marvel in 2009 and Lucasfilm in 2012.

    Iger initially stepped down as CEO in 2021 after extending his tenure during the COVID pandemic. But he was introduced again in 2022 following the ouster of successor Bob Chapek.

    He stepped down for a second time at the starting of 2026, handing the reins to D’Amaro, though he’s set to stay a senior adviser and Disney board member by means of the end of the yr.
