Pete Alonso has gone from Mets hero to Mets killer in less than three full games.
One day after the slugger mashed his three hundredth profession home run in dramatic vogue, he went deep against his previous team on Wednesday with a titanic blast to offer the Orioles an early lead.
Alonso turned on a 2-2 curveball from Xzavion Curry and despatched it into the second deck in left subject at Citi Field. It was no cheapie at 410 ft with an exit velocity of 108.4 mph.
And very similar to his earlier at-bats, Alonso was greeted with cheers from the Mets fanbase, though it did seem that some boos had been blended in this time as he rounded the bases on home run No. 301.
Alonso, on Tuesday evening, after going hitless in the collection, mashed a game-tying home run off Kodai Senga in the ninth, sending it to extras the place the Orioles would win.

“Everyone in the dugout was saying, ‘Go out there,’ and they were right,” Alonso said. “I appreciate all the support. Especially all the years I’ve been here, all the life I’ve lived here. Obviously appreciate that, and it’s a two-way street.”

Alonso gave three Mets followers who acquired the ball autographs, some beers and a proposal to return right down to Baltimore for an Orioles game.
Sean Manaea, Tuesday’s starter, said he’d never witnessed something like Alonso getting cheered by followers of his previous team.
“I love him to death, but as a team, as the 2026 Mets — I know we have definitely underperformed,” Manaea said. “But the guys in here work their ass off every single day. To have that kind of reaction to an opposing player — it could be anybody — is crazy to me.”
