Dave Portnoy calls on Caitlin Clark to take action
Dave Portnoy was left livid after Caitlin Clark was given her eighth technical foul of the season after showing to by accident hit the referee while driving to the basket, before the league rescinded the name.
In Saturday’s game against the Chicago Sky, Clark was bumped by Natasha Cloud under the basketball web while then hitting the official out of bounds.
The official had given a technical foul, despite it not wanting intentional before Clark protested the name. Taking to social media, Portnoy had again tweeted: “Hey Caitlin Clark, just start you own league already. Sick league.”
He adopted that up with: “Imagine treating the most important, impactful, influential woman’s basketball player ever like a piece of s—.
“Insane disrespect. By the means shes acquired 25 and 9 assists and is 5/6 from 3. And they HATE her for it.”
Speaking after the game, Clark said herself: “She said I ran into her. I’ve already watched it on the tape, so we’ll let the league decide, but it wasn’t intentional or anything. So I’m hoping it’s getting rescinded.”
Indeed, the league appeared to agree with Clark as the technical call was reversed, which would have seen her suspended for a game.
All WNBA players are handed a one-game suspension after their eighth tech, meaning Clark would have missed the Fever’s game against the New York Liberty on Tuesday. She will now be eligible to play.
