Elton John says he isn’t ‘giving up hope’ after losing sight in right…
He’s still standin’ after all this time.
Elton John has revealed why he isn’t “giving up hope” after utterly losing sight in his right eye from a severe infection last 12 months.
“It’s been devastating,” John, 78, told Variety in a canopy story printed Tuesday. “Because I lost my right eye and my left eye’s not so good, the last 15 months have been challenging for me because I haven’t been able to see anything, watch anything, read anything.”

The “Tiny Dancer” singer first contracted an eye fixed infection while vacationing in the South of France last summer season. Although each eyes had been affected, he in the end misplaced sight in his right.
Although the infection has hindered the Grammy winner’s ability to see, John hasn’t given up hope about finally regaining his imaginative and prescient.
“I’ve had the most incredible life, and there is hope,” he told the outlet. “I’ve just gotta be patient, that someday science will help me with this one. Once they help me with this one, I’ll be fine.”

“You mustn’t give up hope, you must be stoic, you must be strong and you must always try and batter the door down to try and improve things,” the “I’m Still Standing” crooner, who beforehand underwent a double knee substitute, added.
The EGOT winner went on to specific gratitude that he can still sing and play the piano before thanking his household for supporting him amid his varied health issues.
John entered a civil partnership together with his longtime associate, David Furnish, in 2005. The pair later married in 2014, and have since welcomed sons Zachary, 14, and Elijah, 12.

“I mean, you just have to grin and bear it. It does get me down sometimes,” he shared. “But on the whole, I’ve got a wonderful family; I have two great kids; I have [Furnish].”
John also credited some of his well-known rockstar associates with serving to him alongside the means as nicely.
“Paul McCartney FaceTimes me to see how I’m doing. It’s really beautiful,” he said. “The love I’ve received from him and from Pete Townshend and Mick Jagger and people like that has been amazing.”

“Or you get an email from Keith Richards saying, ‘Hello, darling, how are you doing? You know we love you,’ and that’s it, but it just makes my day,” the “Rocket Man” singer concluded.
The music legend revealed the surprising news about his imaginative and prescient in a assertion on Instagram in September 2024.
“Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye,” he shared with followers at the time.

“I am healing,” John added, “but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.”
Months later, the “Crocodile Rock” crooner opened up about how his partial lack of imaginative and prescient has affected his relationship together with his husband and sons.
“I can see you, but I can’t see TV, I can’t read,” John told The Times of London in April. “I can’t see my boys playing rugby and soccer, and it has been a very stressful time because I’m used to soaking it all up.”
“You get emotional, but you have to get used to it because I’m lucky to have the life I have,” he continued. “I still have my wonderful family, and I can still see something out of [my left eye]. So you say to yourself, ‘Just get on with it.’”
