‘Lost’ Prince Harry says one thing helped him through

Prince Harry has shared that one key thing helped him get through darkish instances when he felt “lost.”

The Duke of Sussex, 41, opened up on how he realized to manage during a tough interval in his life as he appeared at the Time 100 Sport Gala in New York City on Thursday, July 16. Harry mentioned his love of sports activities during the event, admitting he had discovered solace in his ardour for competing after his time serving in the British military ended.

Harry said, “It’s really an honor to be right here tonight to have fun the energy of sport. I don’t just imply the big wins and historic moments. I imply the powerful losses, the sacrifices, the moments that no one ever sees.”

He continued, “Sport is where you first felt the essence of teamwork and community. It shaped your discipline, your drive and your very identity. It taught you to revel in the challenges and the joy of overcoming or defining the odds.”

Harry then spoke about his military service as he added, “For many of you, sport shaped who you became. For me, sports instilled essential core values from a very young age. But it didn’t shape my identity as a young man; the British army did.”

The Duke then said he had felt “lost” when he exited his military career, but found himself using sports as a way to cope with the change. He said, “Sport isn’t just entertainment and competition; sport is medicine.”

Harry’s comments followed a long-awaited reunion with his father, King Charles, during his visit to the UK last week. Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, 44, traveled to the UK, with the duke taking part not only in official public engagements during the trip but also in a number of private meetings away from the public eye.

Among these was a reunion with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House, which Meghan and their children Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, also attended.

The family of four is also rumored to have visited Harry’s uncle Charles Spencer’s Althorp Estate — the ancestral home of Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana.

It is widely believed the family made a point of visiting Princess Diana’s final resting place on the estate during their reported stay. Meghan did not take part in any public engagements during the trip.

Meanwhile, the family reunion with King Charles and Queen Camilla also remained private with no official pictures of their visit shared by the palace.

Officials described the meeting at the King’s home in Gloucestershire as a “non-public household event.” It was the first time Prince Harry and Meghan had been in the UK together since 2022, after they attended the funeral of his grandmother the Queen.
