Olivia Wilde slams Elon Musk as she admits she ‘resents

Olivia Wilde didn’t maintain again about her emotions on Elon Musk in a latest interview.

The actress and director, whose current film, The Invite, is now in theaters, appeared on The Louis Theroux Podcast on Tuesday, July 21. The 42-year-old Hollywood star opened up about assembly the tech trillionaire over a decade in the past, and the way Elon Musk and other right-wing figures like Jordan Peterson impressed Chris Pine’s villainous character in her 2022 thriller Don’t Worry Darling.

During the interview, Olivia mirrored on making right-wing writer Jordan Peterson cry after she revealed that he impressed the villain in her movie.

The dialog turned to Elon Musk, with whom she collaborated in 2012 as producers on the brief documentary Baseball in the Time of Cholera, and hung out with after he invited her to Tesla HQ because she “wanted to see the rocket ships.”

Olivia said, “I mean, Elon talking about how we don’t have enough people, the world is underpopulated, and we could handle another billion people. If you ever wanna be really disturbed, and I’m sure you’ve seen this, but the conversation between Peterson and Elon, um, couple of years ago…”

The filmmaker then shared her experience assembly Elon “before he turned into this creature,” when she was invited to satisfy him at Tesla X’s Los Angeles headquarters, admitting that she was “confused by him.”

She remembered that the South African businessman was “interested in donating money to an organization that was building hospitals and schools,” and that while he finally donated “a little bit of money,” she said she never “would’ve predicted that he would go the path that he’s gone now because he did seem really smart.”

“I really resent him now, I really deeply resent him,” Olivia told the podcast host, expressing shock at the place Elon is now after changing into entangled with the Trump administration as the head of the now-defunct Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE.

When it involves how Musk and Peterson impressed Don’t Worry Darling, she said, “I was disturbed by what I saw as this kind of misogynistic philosophy that was being obviously weaponized in a way that was leading us to elect Donald Trump twice, and beyond that just empower these groups of people who I think are very dangerous.”

She continued, “I loved creating that world because I thought everything should be manmade. There’s nothing that would’ve grown naturally, ‘cause the whole idea is that we did this. We are more powerful than nature, which I think is a big part of what these guys talk about.”

Olivia Wilde’s latest film, The Invite, which she directed and starred in alongside Penelope Cruz, Edward Norton, and Seth Rogen, is now playing in theaters. She also stars in Gregg Araki’s upcoming movie I Want Your Sex, which hits theaters on July 31.
