Filming the scene “went on for hours,” O’Leary said, including that director Josh Safdie demanded 40 takes until 4 AM.
“Josh said, ‘You’ve got to wind up harder,’” the “Shark Tank recalled. “I was really whacking him.”
O’Leary explained that the spanking was “a pivotal scene of humiliation” for Marty because “he had pissed me off so much and insulted me so many times that capital punishment was correct.”

“I never felt satisfied that he suffered enough for what he did,” O’Leary added of Chalamet’s character. “Even now, I’m still pissed.”
