Tobias Myers is ‘prepared for something’ in his first Mets season…
PORT ST. LUCIE — Tobias Myers has succeeded as each a starter and reliever, enhancing his worth to the Mets.
As he enters spring training for his new team, the right-hander said he’s been told by team officers to build up as a starter, offering further depth as wanted to a bunch that consists of Freddy Peralta, Nolan McLean, Sean Manaea, Clay Holmes, David Peterson and Kodai Senga.
“I’m coming into it generally as a starter, and kinda be ready for anything,” Myers told The Post. “Whatever happens as far as health-wise for everybody in camp … iIt’s definitely a lot easier to go ahead and start stretched out and tone it back from there if I need to go in the bullpen, rather than trying to build up innings during the season.”
Myers, who arrived with Peralta in the commerce that despatched Brandon Sproat and Jett Williams to Milwaukee, appeared in 22 games for the Brewers last season, six as a starter. In those six begins, he pitched to a 5.64 ERA before he was optioned to Triple-A. He returned as a reliever and pitched to a 1.91 ERA in his 16 appearances.
