Turning Point’s Super Bowl Halftime show slammed as
Kid Rock has been named as the headliner for Turning Point USA’s alternate Super Bowl halftime show, as conservative and right-wing viewers plan to boycott Puerto Rican celebrity Bad Bunny’s headlining performance on Sunday, February 8.
The Detroit rocker and vocal Trump supporter will probably be joined by Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett. The event, dubbed ‘The All-American Halftime Show,’ will air at the same time as the NFL championship game’s halftime show. The alternate halftime show will air round 8 PM, proper when the Album of the Year winner is ready to take the stage during the Seattle Seahawks-New England Patriots game.
The announcement was met with ridicule on social media, with one person writing, “This is embarrassing, just like America right now.” Another quipped, “Damn – I’d be hard pressed to come up with a worse list!”
The 55-year-old musician said in a press release, “We’re approaching this show like David and Goliath. Competing with the pro football machine and a global pop superstar is almost impossible…or is it?”
