Boxing star doubts Jake Paul-Anthony Joshua fight

Ryan Garcia would not consider Jake Paul will fight former two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua despite the pair going face-to-face at their press convention on Friday.

Paul, 28, will step inside the squared circle with A.J., 36, on Dec. 19 inside Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, after The Problem Child’s exhibition fight against Gervonta Davis was canceled earlier this month.

The YouTube star-turned-boxer has earned many critics in the boxing world after transitioning into knowledgeable in 2020, with many criticizing his hand-picked opponents. Paul would face off against former UFC champions and the occasional boxer, such as Tyson Fury’s youngest brother, Tommy, and heavyweight legend Mike Tyson.

After the Davis fight was canceled, it did not take Paul lengthy to discover a new opponent for the month that adopted. He has landed himself a mega fight with a mega opponent, Joshua, a former two-time heavyweight champion of the world. Joshua, who was crushed by three-time undisputed champ Oleksandr Usyk twice and, most not too long ago, Daniel Dubois in heavyweight title matchups, is ready for a large payday before returning to his meant objectives, with experiences suggesting that the whole prize purse is over $180 million.

However, despite the substantial sum of money at stake, controversial boxing determine Garcia still would not suppose the fight will happen. Taking to the social media platform X, Garcia outlined his rationale.

“I seriously doubt this Jake vs Anthony fight takes place. It’s too much of a disadvantage, just don’t make sense. After the press conference that’s apparent,” Garcia said. Garcia’s comments drew consideration from Paul himself.

“What don’t make sense is you fighting for a WBC belt after coming off an a– whoopin by Rolly and 5 other things I could bring up. But hey, that’s no knock on you, you have big… Nagh you ain’t have big nothing,” Paul replied.

Paul also took pictures at Matchroom Boxing chief Eddie Hearn at the press convention. The American claimed he may take over the company after beating A.J.

“It’s a massive mistake to look past me. I’m putting a stop to all those plans — don’t book flights or hotels,” Paul said. “I’m knocking this guy out, becoming the CEO of Matchroom Boxing, changing the plans, and it’s going to be me against Tyson Fury next year.”

A.J. also gave Paul some respect. “Jake is a serious fighter. You cannot underestimate anyone,” the Brit said. “After a year out, I’ve changed a lot in my life, realigned my energy, got my focus back where it needs to be, and distanced myself from distractions.

“I’m absolutely channelled and locked in now. I want to chop him up, break him up and harm him. There is nothing more to it. It would not matter what anybody else says, I must do a job.”
