Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy has vowed he’ll get a Philadelphia 76ers tattoo on his neck in the event that they win an NBA Championship this season.
Having trailed 3-1 of their first round Eastern Conference playoffs collection against the Boston Celtics, who Portnoy helps, Philadelphia roared again to win the collection in seven. Game 7 noticed Philadelphia defeat Boston 109-100 at TD Garden, a lot to Portnoy’s dismay.

Taking to X, Portnoy, who was unable to observe the entirety of Game 7 on account of attending the Kentucky Derby, posted a video explaining that he was so confident Philadelphia wouldn’t win an NBA title this season that, in the event that they do, he’ll get a neck tattoo.
“So I made the video, after the Celtics lost last night, I saw the second half, I was at the Kentucky Derby … I said what was true, that yes, it sucks to lose to the Sixers, but it’s not like this was a championship Celtics team,” said Portnoy, despite him claiming he “would be surprised if the Celtics aren’t in the finals” once they had been 3-1 up in the collection before shedding in seven.
He continued, “I don’t want to be like ‘this is the rebuild year that it was supposed to be and we overachieved and all that stuff’. We were loaded, it looked like going into the playoffs. But then you watch this team, and they just weren’t championship level, and we know what championship level looks like.

“They weren’t it … they weren’t going to make a run … there was no likelihood, despite what the odds said.
“But that’s neither here nor there. The Sixers, and I said it, the worst part about losing to this team, is Philadelphia’s scumbag fans. And I sort of like the scumbag fans, but they’re just too much … the Philadelphia 76ers … it’s round one. It’s round one. You’re probably going to get bounced in the next round by the Knicks, it’s round one. You haven’t won a championship, Philadelphia 76ers, since 1983 … so spare me rubbing it in.
And then, speaking directly to Philadelphia’s fans, added, “I never do bets like this. I never make gimmick bets. But I’m so sick of you Sixers followers. If the Philadelphia 76ers win the NBA Championship, I’ll get a neck tattoo … I’ll get a neck tattoo on one among the two neck areas, a Philadelphia 76ers neck tattoo.
“I don’t have tattoos … for the rest of my life … that is how confident I am that you guys have no f—— chance.”

After advancing past the Celtics, the 76ers have been pitted against the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
However, Game 1 noticed them blown out in a convincing trend, as the Knicks defeated Philadelphia 137-98. Knicks star Jalen Brunson top-scored for New York by scoring 35 factors, while OG Anunoby scored 18.
Game 2 is slated for Wednesday (May 6) at Madison Square Garden.
