Fox News has seen a string of distinguished departures over the past decade, with some figures leaving for rival retailers and others being pressured out.

Fox News is a well-liked American conservative cable news outlet and digital media outlet. Launched on October 7, 1996, it’s owned by Fox Corporation and broadcasts from New York City. Over the years, exits from well-known tv personalities have considerably reshaped the conservative network’s lineup.

These high-profile exits have shook up the network in many different methods including triggering schedule adjustments, short-term rating shifts, and rebranding. This comes as Fox News weathercaster Janice Dean claimed she was “muzzled” before she resigned.

There have been many different reasonings for anchors to half methods with the network including lawsuits, investigations, misconduct allegations, broader monetary pressures, and far more.

Here are eight of the most notable departures since 2016.

Roger Ailes, who based Fox News in 1996, resigned as chairman and chief government in July 2016 after former anchor Gretchen Carlson accused him of sexual harassment.

Megyn Kelly and other women later made comparable allegations.

Ailes denied the claims and left with a reported $40 million payout. He died in 2017 at age 77.

Gretchen Carlson joined Fox in 2005 and later hosted The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson.

After her contract expired in June 2016, she sued Ailes, alleging she was dismissed after refusing his sexual advances.

The lawsuit helped pressure Ailes’ resignation. Carlson reportedly acquired a $20 million settlement and have become an advocate against office harassment.

Megyn Kelly left Fox for NBC in January 2017 after 13 years.

She drew national consideration for questioning Donald Trump during a 2015 Republican presidential debate.

Trump later told CNN, “There was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.”

Fox dismissed Bill O’Reilly in April 2017 after The New York Times reported that he and the network paid $13 million to settle harassment claims from 5 women.

O’Reilly denied wrongdoing.

Advertisers deserted his program, and Tucker Carlson inherited the 8 p.m. time slot.

Fox News co-president Bill Shine left in May 2017 as lawsuits raised questions about whether or not senior leaders hid harassment complaints.

Shine was not personally accused of misconduct. He later served as White House communications director under Trump.

Eric Bolling departed Fox in 2017 while the network investigated allegations that he despatched unsolicited lewd images and messages to feminine colleagues.

Fox described the break up as “amicable.”

Bolling denied the allegations and later joined Newsmax.

Fox fired Ed Henry in July 2020 after receiving a grievance involving “willful sexual misconduct.”

Former producer Jennifer Eckhart later accused him in a lawsuit of rape and coercion. The grievance alleged Henry requested her to be his “sex slave.”

Henry denied the allegations and sued Fox for defamation.

Fox announced Tucker Carlson’s departure on April 24, 2023, saying the network had “agreed to part ways” with its prime-time host.

“We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” Fox said.

Carlson gave no indication he was leaving during his final broadcast, closing with, “We’ll be back on Monday. In the meantime, have the best weekend with the ones that you love, and we’ll see you then.”
