Former FBI official raises theory on Nancy Guthrie

Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance led former FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker to posit a horrifying theory about the a number of, unverified ransom notes despatched to media retailers like TMZ.

Nancy, the mom of Today host Savannah Guthrie, was last seen on January 31 before her household reported her as lacking on February 1. Her disappearance is assumed to be a case of kidnapping. Blood stains at the 84-year-old’s residence had been confirmed to be hers, inflicting even more concern for her household.

On February 8, Swecker made an look on Fox News wherein he questioned the legitimacy of Nancy’s assumed kidnappers. He said that he’s “very skeptical” of the situation.

He posed a question, asking if Nancy’s disappearance was “really a kidnapping.”

“Does somebody really have her, and is she really alive?” continued Swecker.

“To those imposters who are trying to take advantage and profit from this situation — we will investigate and ensure you are held accountable for your actions,” said FBI Phoenix Special Agent in Charge Heith Janke.

Swecker expressed doubt that Nancy was kidnapped, stating “If this was a kidnapping, it would be a very simple matter to authenticate and provide proof of life.”

Since Nancy’s disappearance over a week ago, there has been no “credibly authenticated” evidence proving that she is still alive.

Swecker proposed an alternative theory regarding Nancy’s missing status, saying that “You have to allow for the possibility that this was something more or something other than a kidnapping.”

“I really think there’s a third party here that’s just playing with them,” he continued, “opportunists who think they can exploit this situation.”

Swecker also made note of the fact that the first ransom letter demanded $1 million, and that the most recent letter asked for $6 million.

Since Nancy’s disappearance, Savannah and her siblings have shared multiple videos to social media. The family pleaded for the safe return of their mother, saying that they are “ready to talk” and “will pay.”

“We beg you now to return our mother to us so we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace,” said Savannah, who was joined by her siblings.

The F.B.I. provided a $50,000 reward for “information leading to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.”
