Harry recalls ‘depressing’ moment watching awkward
Prince Harry revealed in his memoir Spare that he struggled to look at intimate scenes between his spouse and her co-star on the authorized drama Suits.
The Duke of Sussex described the “miserable” experience of seeing Meghan Markle in a romantic encounter together with her on-screen love curiosity.
Before assembly Harry in 2016, Meghan portrayed paralegal Rachel Zane in the TV collection, the place her character was romantically concerned with Mike Ross, performed by Patrick J Adams.
Harry admitted that one specific scene from Season Two was so uncomfortable that he felt he wanted “electric shock” therapy to erase it from his thoughts.
In his 2023 autobiography, he wrote, “I’d witnessed her [Meghan] and a castmate mauling each other in some sort of office or conference room.”
Expressing his discomfort, he added, “I didn’t need to see such things live.”
Meghan’s portrayal on the present allegedly shifted after she started courting Prince Harry. Tom Bower’s e-book Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War between the Windsors claims that “the Palace stepped in to control Meghan’s life,” reviews the Mirror.
He revealed, “Scripts were thereafter forwarded to Kensington Palace for approval. Orders for changes of words were sent back from London to Los Angeles. The most important demand concerned Meghan’s last scene at her ‘wedding’ to Mike.
“No images, the Palace ordered, had been to be shot of Meghan carrying a marriage gown. Between filming, she was always to put on a jacket over the gown. The ambiance in the studio modified.”
Harry is now bracing himself to watch Meghan return to the screen as she prepares to appear in a new movie.
The Duchess stepped away from her acting career when she married into the royal family, but her love for performance appears to have endured as she makes her Hollywood comeback.
The 44-year-old has been cast in the upcoming film Close Personal Friends, currently filming in Pasadena, California. She joins a star-studded ensemble including Lily Collins, Brie Larson, Jack Quaid and Henry Golding.
The mid-budget romantic comedy follows two couples – one famous, one ordinary – who form an unlikely friendship during a vacation.
This marks Meghan’s first acting role since 2017, though sources suggest the return wasn’t initially on her radar, telling The Daily Mail, “This was never in her plan.”
The development comes despite Meghan’s 2022 declaration that she had closed the door on acting. Speaking with Variety magazine that year, she stated, “I’m completed. I assume never say never, however my intention is to completely not.”
However, shortly after, the Sussexes announced their Netflix documentary series, Harry & Meghan, and she then went on to create her own lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan.
In June, Meghan, who portrayed attorney Rachel Zane in Suits, admitted that she “sometimes” misses acting on Emma’s Grede’s Aspire podcast.
She also shared with the entrepreneur how her Netflix show, while not scripted, is giving her a piece of that back, which was “actually nice.”
