Jake Paul issued chilling warining over Anthony | Boxing News
Boxing icon Amir Khan has provided his perspective on the upcoming fight between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul, warning it might flip right into a harmful mismatch. The former world champion Joshua has signed on to face Paul next month.
The heavyweight showdown is scheduled to stream live on Netflix on December 19. Paul, 28, was initially set to fight last Friday, however his bout against Gervonta Davis was scrapped after Davis confronted allegations of battery, false imprisonment, and kidnapping from a former girlfriend.
Paul’s monitor report in the ring options wins over ex-MMA rivals and a disputed victory against 58 12 months outdated Mike Tyson last 12 months. Meanwhile, Joshua hasn’t competed since struggling a knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois in September 2024. Yet Khan believes the matchup can be severely one-sided if Joshua have been to fulfill Paul in the ring. The former world champion thinks the social media star ought to ‘keep in his personal lane’.
“Honestly, I’m not going to lie, I think that’s a fight where Jake could literally get killed,” he told Betway. “AJ looks a lot bigger, he’s a lot heavier and if he hits him with that straight back hand, where most heavyweights might be able to take, but still get knocked out then what would happen to Jake?”
“Jake is better if he stays in his own lane, he’s doing well in his own lane and he’s doing good and making a good name for himself in boxing and is gaining respect now.
“If he tries to speak the garbage he needs to say and is saying I need to fight AJ then people will start considering this man’s a little bit of a joker, they will lose that respect and they are going to neglect about what he is accomplished by working so arduous and what he is accomplished.
“I don’t think that should happen. I think it’s a great publicity stunt and that’s what they are all about aren’t they, the Paul brothers, they made their name from social media. Look, I don’t think that fight should happen because I think there would be a casualty in that fight.”
Making the announcement on Monday, Paul said beating Joshua will imply he can’t be denied a shot at a world title any longer. He said: “This isn’t an AI simulation. This is Judgment Day
“A professional heavyweight fight against an elite world champion in his prime. When I beat Anthony Joshua, every doubt disappears, and no one can deny me the opportunity to fight for a world title. To all my haters, this is what you wanted.
“To the people of the United Kingdom, I’m sorry. On Friday, December 19, under the lights in Miami, live globally only on Netflix, the torch will get handed and Britain’s Goliath will get put to sleep. I KNOWWWW YOU GOT EM PICKED HAHAHHA”
