Jim Mora is crusing for greener pastures.
After a number of profitable seasons as UConn’s head coach, Mora is leaving the faculty that he has called residence since 2022 to turn out to be Colorado State’s head coach, ESPN first reported.

Benedict added that a national search for the next head coach would “begin immediately.”
A former NFL head coach for the Falcons and Seahawks, Mora was also the head coach at UCLA from 2012-’17.
UConn’s three losses this season — to Syracuse, Delaware, and Rice — all got here in extra time, and the season was highlighted with an upset residence victory over Duke.
Mora, 64, had beforehand said earlier this month that he wasn’t “a mover” and wouldn’t chase another job.

While Colorado State isn’t precisely a college football blue blood, it’s a part of a convention and some some have speculated that UConn being one in all two unbiased groups in the nation — together with Notre Dame — performed a consider Mora’s determination.
Mora beforehand confirmed curiosity in the Washington State head coaching job after the 2024 season, which he finally rebuffed in favor of staying in Storrs.

“A simple note to the schools and coaches that have blatantly broken @NCAAFootball rules by tampering with our players in the last 24 hours,” Mora said on X in December 2024. “We do know who you are, we will pursue all avenues to hold you accountable. We are excited that we’ve built a program where coaches have to cheat to beat us … Think hard before you tamper with our players.”
Mora’s departure to Colorado State needs to be a boon for the Rams, who fired Jay Norvell after a 2-5 start as they give the impression of being to make a number of splashes in the recruiting world with a longtime coach main the cost.
