Katy Perry detailed the “worst year of her life” amid her break up from longtime associate Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares a daughter.

In a new interview, Perry, 41, mirrored on her psychological health woes amid their breakup and the way she discovered the strength to rise again. During her look on The Zane Lowe Show on Apple Music, Perry said, as quoted by Daily Mail, “Last year was so hard. It was the worst year and the best year. Because there are two sides to every coin, I decided to look at it as the best.”

As per Elle, courting rumors about the singer swirled after she was noticed in Montreal with Justin Trudeau, the former Canadian prime minister. Two months later, studies cited that the pair was reportedly formally courting. The couple made their purple carpet debut in June 2026 at the Tribeca Festival.

Reflecting on the newfound romance, Perry said, “It’s wild to look at where I was one year ago exactly. I remember where I was one year ago exactly this year.

Last year, in June, I was in the winter on the Lifetimes tour. I was crying. I was in Adelaide. I had just separated. I had been through a lot of you know, just stuff publicly, privately. And I was just like, “holy s— this is basically intense. Is an individual actually presupposed to really feel all this and soak up all this?”

“And then my blessing got here, and it was great. It was like God did not take me this far to abandon me,” the singer said.

Earlier this month, the pop star faced backlash after performing her song Wonder with 10-year-old Norwegian singer Tius during the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Los Angeles, California.

Soccer fans took to social media to slam the hitmaker’s ‘screeching’ performance, with some criticizing her vocals and others accusing the hitmaker of lip-syncing during the live event.

Audiences watching the USA’s first World Cup fixture expressed disappointment over the pop icon’s unsteady vocals, with comments such as, “Katy Perry is screeching like her in-ears are usually not working.”

A video also circulated on-line displaying Perry kissing Trudeau after performing. The video reveals Katy leaving the stadium, and at the nook of one of the entrances, she stopped to embrace the former politician.
