Keith has persisted with touring despite news of his separation from Nicole as he continues his High and Alive World Tour.
Earlier this month, he returned to the stage for the first time since the divorce announcement, performing at the Giant Centre in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Nevertheless, he made a striking adjustment to his setlist when he performed The Fighter, a 2016 hit which he had previously described as being written for Nicole.
Keith had consistently performed the song during previous tours, with the lyrics featuring, “When they’re tryna get to you, child I’ll be the fighter,” which supporters had long connected to his Oscar-winning wife.
A viral clip revealed the performer altering the lyrics of The Fighter to incorporate his fiddle player Maggie Baugh’s name, crooning, “Maggie, I’ll be your fighter.”
Maggie, who performs as part of his touring ensemble, reshared the footage with the caption, “Did he just say that?”
