Luke Combs pays homage to Elvis and Johnny Cash with
Luke Combs arrived at the 59th Annual CMA Awards carrying a chunk of music historical past.
On the crimson carpet at Music City Center on November 19, the nation star wore a gold Omega wristwatch as soon as owned by Elvis Presley.
The watch, gifted to Presley by Johnny Cash in 1969, was engraved with the message “To E From J Jan. 8, 1969,” to mark his birthday.
The understated yet significant accent stood out against Combs’ maroon paisley go well with.
The watch’s unique classic leather-based strap confirmed put on, and the caseback had seen scratches.
Their paths cross again during the well-known Million Dollar Quartet session in 1956 with Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins.
Combs, a nominee for entertainer of the yr, male vocalist of the yr, and single of the yr for Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma, kicked off the night with a live performance of Back in the Saddle.
As flames shot behind him, Combs delivered the lyrics with full pressure, “’Cause I’m back in the saddle like some old cowboy, who dug his way out of his grave.”
