Oleksandr Usyk set to have property confiscated by | Boxing News
Currently unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk was considered one of 84 people in Russia-controlled Crimea — a area in Ukraine — to have their property “nationalized” by Russia.
Vladimir Konstantino, the head of the Russia-backed State Council in Crimea, wrote in a telegram on Tuesday that “the list of nationalized property was expanded by the property of another 84 individuals and legal entities,” including Usyk’s.
The 38-year-old hails from Simferopol, a major financial hub in Crimea. Usyk was tabbed as a “supporter of Nazi ideology” by the local Russian chief (per a report from United24media).
“Among them is the athlete Oleksandr Usyk, who’s a supporter of Nazi ideology,” the message from Konstantino continued. “He has repeatedly condemned the SVO (special military operation) and organized fundraising for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
What incentive is there for Russia to seize Usyk’s assets? Forbes estimated the Ukrainian fighter to have a net worth of over $100 million. His assets — and wealth — would immediately fall into the hands of the Russians.
