Diagnosed with the condition in late 2007, Swayze spoke candidly about his symptoms and treatment, serving to to lift consciousness for the third most frequent cancer in the US.

After conducting his personal research and disliking what he discovered, Swayze sought medical recommendation and was shortly diagnosed with a malignant tumor in his midsection, alongside with a small mass on his liver.

“[I] started realising this is not pretty. This is not a good thing,” Swayze said.

Hoping to maintain his diagnosis non-public while he and his spouse decided their next steps, tabloids found the actor’s life-threatening condition and incorrectly reported he had just 5 weeks to live.

Like 80 p.c of pancreatic cancer sufferers, Swayze obtained his diagnosis after the disease had already metastasized.

This happens because symptoms, including stomach pain and unexplained weight loss, could be non-specific and attributed to other circumstances such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
