The shocking performance unfolded as the Jamaican-American musician, 57, appeared alongside singer Rayvon, 57, on the Jennie-O Big Turkey Spectacular float in New York City on Thursday morning.
After kicking off along with his common 1995 monitor “Mr. Bombastic,” the music stopped and Shaggy jumped into “It Wasn’t Me” – a suggestive NSFW music about a person’s associate catching him having intercourse with another lady.
“Honey came in and she caught me red-handed / Creepin’ with the girl next door,” he sang as youngsters and other paradegoers danced alongside. “How could I forget that I had / Given her an extra key?”
However, Shaggy made positive to not embody the music’s more express lyrics about being caught “butt naked” and “bangin’ on the bathroom floor” before he and Rayvon moved on to their 2000 hit “Angel.”

But the performance still took viewers unexpectedly, and many rushed to social media to query why the reggae star sang “It Wasn’t Me” during a parade that also featured characters from “Sesame Street” and an enormous Buzz Lightyear balloon.
“I’m so serious nobody wants to hear Shaggy ‘wasn’t me’ singing about getting caught cheating,” one particular person wrote on X. “Imagine having to explain the lyrics to a child who keeps picking it up and singing it nonstop.”

Busta Rhymes, who carried out on Nickelodeon and Paramount’s “World of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Chocolate Factory” float, was accused of lip-syncing his method by way of a medley of songs that included “Break Ya Neck” and “Look at Me Now.”

Although Busta Rhymes, 53, was accused of lip-syncing his performance, it isn’t uncommon for artists to depend on a backing vocal monitor for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
John Legend revealed why that is after followers called out Rita Ora for lip-synching on her float again in 2018.
“Fun fact,” he explained on X at the time. “We all have to lip sync on this parade because the floats don’t have the capacity to handle the sound requirements for a live performance. Hope y’all enjoyed it anyway.”
