    A former Miss Universe Jamaica finalist and actress has died over the weekend, the group revealed.

    LaToya Malcolm, 35, an actress and dance teacher who competed in the 2024 Miss Universe Jamaica magnificence pageant, was confirmed dead on Saturday, however her explanation for loss of life stays unknown.

    “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Miss Universe Jamaica alumna LaToya Malcolm, who proudly competed in the 2024 Miss Universe Jamaica Competition,” the Miss Universe Jamaica group wrote on Instagram.

    “Our heartfelt condolences are with her family, friends, and loved ones. Rest peacefully, LaToya. You will never be forgotten.”

    Malcolm was among the favorites to win the 2024 pageant, however the run was marked with tragedy following the loss of life of her father. 

    The magnificence queen, however, went on to win Miss Jamaica Bikini International, a victory she devoted to her father.  

    “My beloved father, Mr. Malcolm, this win was for you. Your one and only daughter continues to make you proud,” she wrote at the time. “I know you’re smiling down on me from heaven.”

    In the final years of her life, Malcolm devoted her time to the Transition Project, a program that helps underprivileged teenagers get the mandatory training and sources to succeed as younger adults. 

    Current Miss Universe Jamaica titleholder Gabrielle Henry, who went viral last 12 months after falling on stage, was among those who have been mourning Malcolm after the news of her loss of life broke. 

    “To hear of LaToya’s passing is a great loss to her family and the wider community, Jamaica, her impact will always be remembered and her voice will not be forgotten,” Henry wrote. 

    “Wishing her family my deepest condolences. May she rest in peace,” she added.”
