Ryan Seacrest admits Derek Hough is to blame for WoF

“Knowing someone, or being friends, is definitely helpful,” Ryan said. “You can kind of tease them more than somebody you don’t know.”

Derek and Ryan’s friendship dates back to the early 2010s when the host was dating the dancer’s sister Julianne. Julianne and Ryan first met in 2010 when she appeared on his radio show with her then-boyfriend, Chuck Wicks. After Julianne and Chuck split later that year, she and Ryan went on their first date.

The two dated for three years before splitting due to Julianne wanting a career that wasn’t tied to his success.

While appearing on Dax Shepard’s podcast Armchair Expert, she said, “I keep in mind once I determined to break issues off, I had a number of these Brentwood mothers and producers in that world that have been like, ‘What are you doing?'”
