Three detained in Nancy Guthrie case as SWAT team moves

Authorities in Arizona reportedly executed a search warrant Friday night close to the house of lacking Tucson resident Nancy Guthrie, detaining three people as the investigation intensified practically two weeks after her disappearance.

A SWAT team from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department reportedly converged on a residence about 1.9 miles from Guthrie’s house. “There is an active situation happening right now involving the Pima County swat team connected to the Nancy Guthrie investigation,” NewsNation’s Brian Entin wrote on X.

Deputies ordered a person and a girl to exit the home. “Appears two individuals were taken out of the house where swat operation is happening. I’m told a nearby traffic stop is also connected. Im outside the house,” the reporter added

Both complied and had been reportedly detained. A 3rd particular person was reportedly stopped and detained during a close-by visitors cease, believed to be linked to the operation.

Police didn’t instantly issue an announcement, however they did publicly make clear some inaccuracies in prior reporting. “Reporting that current law enforcement activity is surrounding a home belonging to a former county attorney is NOT accurate,” the sheriffs division wrote on X. 

Moreover, police determined against a night press convention. “A written statement is forthcoming,” they said.

FBI autos later arrived at the scene, according to NewsNation senior national correspondent Brian Entin, who reported from the neighborhood.

Neighbor Peter Molk described the heavy regulation enforcement presence as “unbelievably absurd.”

“It’s making everybody nervous. It’s just surreal, and we just can’t imagine how the family is processing all this,” Molk said.

Earlier Friday, a sheriff’s division airplane was seen circling overhead. A cellular command middle was also noticed leaving the sheriff’s workplace round the same time.

Investigators continue to give attention to an outline of the man they are saying kidnapped 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie from her Tucson-area house practically two weeks in the past.

Authorities have said the suspect is a person of common build, about 5 ft, 10 inches tall.

On Friday, a crew of pool cleaners entered Guthrie’s house under escort from sheriff’s deputies. Activity at the residence has slowed in contrast with earlier days.

Meanwhile, media outlet TMZ reported receiving a 3rd e-mail from a person claiming to know the id of Guthrie’s kidnapper.

The sender demanded $100,000 from the FBI in alternate for data and warned it could be the final contact.

The sender elevated the demand from one Bitcoin, price about $65,000, to match the FBI’s doubled reward of $100,000.

The e-mail proposed an instantaneous $50,000 Bitcoin deposit in alternate for “the name of the main individual along with his information for you to track.”
