Eddie has also become famously known for his iconic voice acting roles including Donkey in the Shrek franchise, Mushu the dragon in Mulan, and Thurgood Stubbs in the animated sitcom The PJs.

Every year the AFI Life Achievement Award is given to someone that has made an influential impact in the entainment industry. The ceremony also included an unforgettable live performance from Jennifer Hudson with a house band led by Rickey Minor.

Eddie accepted the award to a standing ovation. In his acceptance speech, he said partially, “Looking out and seeing all my family, all my kids and my beautiful wife. Seeing all the different people that I worked with. This is a special moment. I’d like to thank everybody for this night that I will remember forever and ever.”
