Sarah Michelle Gellar tributes Buffy co-star Anthony
Sarah Michelle Gellar has paid a heartfelt tribute to her Buffy co-star Anthony Head following his passing at the age of 72 on Friday.
Gellar, who shared the display screen with Head in the beloved Buffy the Vampire Slayer collection, posted a set of images capturing their friendship over the years. Alongside the pictures, she wrote: “Tell Giles I figured it out and I’m ok. Well I don’t have it figured out and I’m not ok.
“But I do know I’m the fortunate one because I knew you. Thank you to Daisy and Emily who not only shared their dad with me, however with the world.”
Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein also offered his condolences, writing: “Anthony Head was a superb actor who performed the worst particular person in the world, which was an extremely skill because he was the best particular person.
“Infinitely charming and kind and fun and a joy. He will be sorely missed. Love to his family.”
The household’s announcement on Friday read: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our extraordinary father, Anthony Head. Rest in peace with your beautiful Sarah-Emma.
“He handed away peacefully of problems attributable to pneumonia, surrounded by his household. It has been, and endlessly will likely be, an honor and a privilege to be his daughters and to have witnessed firsthand the affect each he and his work have had on so many.
“We know how dearly he will be missed by friends, colleagues, and fans of the shows he was in – he loved his job very much, and he always considered himself incredibly lucky, to have been able to work alongside such exceptional talented people, in such wonderful productions, across a career that spanned several decades.
“Our grief is way larger than the gap he has left behind, however we all know his legacy will live on, in the reveals he was part of, and in the audiences that love them.
“How lucky we are to know we are able to watch him doing what he loved, even when he is no longer with us. We kindly ask that our privacy is respected at this difficult time.”
The British actor earned widespread recognition for portraying librarian Rupert Giles in the acclaimed Nineties collection Buffy. His spectacular resume also included major tv packages such as Ted Lasso, Little Britain, Silent Witness and Doctor Who.
His daughter Emily gained fame playing Carli, Simon’s romantic curiosity, in the E4 comedy The Inbetweeners, while Daisy has featured in tv productions including Harlots, Shadow and Bone and The Gray House.
